Why? Because every test on the face of planet earth is, in essence, an IQ test. So when you test our populations fairly Blacks will come out at the bottom every time. As an example of modern lunacy cities and localities then set out to try and create tests that would somehow, magically ignore IQ, since this is a patent impossibility it failed every single time.
Which leaves us with the unpleasant option of simply throwing out all standards to increase the most important quality in any modern police force…Melanin!
Police may scrap entrance exam
‘OPEN UP THE PROCESS’ | Union chief: It’s ‘too stupid to be true’The Chicago Police Department is seriously considering scrapping the police entrance exam to bolster minority hiring, save millions on test preparation and avert costly legal battles that have dogged the exam process for decades, City Hall sources said Tuesday.
If the process is opened to everyone who applies and meets the minimum education and residency requirements, Chicago would be virtually alone among major cities. Most cities have police entrance exams — and for good reason, experts say.
“A background check and a psych [exam] alone will not eliminate some people who should not be there,” said Brad Woods, who ran the Personnel Division under former Chicago Police Superintendents Phil Cline and Terry Hillard.
Calling an application-only process a “step backward” and the “wrong way to go,” Woods said, “When you lower your quality, you will get poor police service and more complaints. … Whenever you make it easier to be the police, you’re doing the citizens and the Police Department a disservice.”
Charlie Roberts, who ran the training division from 1995 to 1999, noted that there are “eleven tracks” recruits must go through in the police academy, including the law and the municipal code.
“If you don’t give someone at least a reading comprehension test, can you just put them in and risk the possibility of having so many of them fail? That could get quite expensive,” Roberts said.
“We were getting people with 60 hours of college credit who were reading at a third-grade level. What do you think you’ll get if you have no screening process?”
Human Resources Department spokesperson Connie Buscemi acknowledged Tuesday that the Daley administration has been exploring other “options” since last fall, when a “request-for-proposals” for companies interested in preparing an on-line police entrance exam was cancelled.
The last police entrance exam was held on Nov. 5, 2006.
“We wanted to try to develop something on-line to allow the city to accommodate members of the U.S. military who are on active duty. But, we didn’t get any responses that met our needs. No one said they could administer an on-line exam” and guarantee its integrity, Buscemi said. *snip*
“We’re [now] reviewing our options on how to administer the police application process.”
Other sources confirmed that the police entrance exam could be scrapped altogether “to open up the process to as many people as possible.” A final decision could be made later this week.
Fraternal Order of Police President Mark Donahue said the idea “sounds too stupid to be true.” “You need a testing process. … You need to be very concerned about the very limited information you would get from just a screening and application process,” Donahue said. *snip*
Hiring and promotions in the Police and Fire Departments have generated controversy in Chicago for as long as anyone can remember.
The criticism reached a crescendo in 1994 after a sergeants exam produced just five minority promotions out of 114.
The test was the first to be administered by the city after “race-norming” — the practice of adjusting scores on the basis of race — was ruled unconstitutional.
In November 2005, City Hall announced plans to offer the police entrance exam a record four times the following year — and for the first time on the Internet — after an unprecedented outreach campaign that bolstered the number of minority applicants to 34 percent black, 24 percent Hispanic and 26 percent women.
More than two years later, black ministers told newly-appointed Police Supt. Jody Weis that, if he was serious about re-establishing trust between police and the black community, he should start by hiring and promoting more African Americans.
This is the dirty little secret of diversity, no matter what it will always lead to squabbling over skin color, genitalia, religion, etc. et al. In all of recorded history whenever you had different races living in the same space it always ended in violence, always.
If it is truly more important to have incompetent Black cops than to test fairly then my next question is: when can we begin to resegregate?
As we rightly celebrate the Ricci decision and hope for a future free from racial gerry-mandering I think it would behoove us to consider one minor niggling detail that I think is being overlooked in all the excitement.
If we were to truly roll back affirmative action minorities in general and blacks in specific would find themselves locked out of many jobs. In fact any profession that required testing would turn out the exact same way things did in the Ricci case which instigated the suit in the first place.
The highest scorers on the test were all white along with one Hispanic, and that is precisely what affirmative actionless future will look like. In fact time after time we see this pattern repeating itself, Statistically Asians and whites top the list followed by Hispanics with blacks at the bottom.
It may be depressing but its true. So if you were to honestly go by the test you would most likely no longer statistically have any black firemen or policemen to speak of. And how well do you think that would go over in a nation where black folks can vote?
How long will it take for a racial demagogue to begin drumming up business because of the “self evident racism” that is keeping blacks from doing well on job related testing? Which will drop us right back into the venomous racialist pot we’re stewing in now.
How bad will it be?
As Steve Sailor notes, in Chicago the city had to make the test so easy that they had an 85% pass rate and then simply selected the racial mix they desired and they use the same method for promotions.
And of course the true irony of that process is that not only does it allow unqualified black firefighters through it also allows unqualified firefighters of every race through. Because of course the testing is there to winnow whites as well in terms of cognitive function and make sure they can do the job properly.
So what can we do?
It seems to me that we have exhausted every excuse for the very real problems that come with having different races living side by side, in fact, seems to me that they are starting to sound more and more and more ridiculous.
Lawrence Auster has suggested a program of Separationism to deal with the problems and pathologies of Islam in the West. I am suggesting a similar program for dealing with minority populations in America, think Liberia.
Now I realize that complaint number one will be that this is somehow unfeasible, that it would be impossible to implement in the real world. Fair enough, no, it could not be implemented at this moment, however, times change.
I believe that the course this nation is on is unsustainable and a large part of that are the stresses and strains of multi-culturalism (see Bowling Alone for more detail). And much like California I think this nation will default and there is going to be some sort of massive cultural reset in the nearish future.
So the question we need to be asking now is what precisely will we be doing different in that possible future?
Why would we pursue the same policies that have brought us to this pass in the first place? In fact why would we continue to allow those who provide a drag on this nation to continue to do so?
So, if we end the practice of affirmative action we relegate blacks, and to a lesser degree Hispanics, to second class status in a very real way which is unsustainable.
Creating a racial nation of janitors.
But if we continue the practice of affirmative action or positive discrimination that would also be unsustainable causing untold harm to this nation.
So what do we do?
I say we allow the various races to go their own ways peacefully, relinquish the fantasy of multi-culturalism, and re-establish the United States as an essentially white nation. Which of course it was for the majority of its existence.
