The British media have been reporting the gang rape of a 19 year old girl at a music festival. Despite a detailed report of the attack, and a police appeal for witness, the b.b.c. gave no description. Sky news?-nah. Sun newspaper?- nope. The I came across a report in the daily mail, which had this from Suffolk police at the end:
A SUFFOLK POLICE SPOKESMAN SAID OFFICERS TOOK A DETAILED ACCOUNT (ah) FROM THE WOMAN BEFORE SHE HAD A MEDICAL EXAMINATION (looks promising!).
CCTV FOOTAGE IS ALSO BEING CHECKED (even more so).
SHE SAID “LATTITUDE IS A BIG AND BUSY FESTIVAL AND THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN LOTS OF PEOPLE AROUND AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT WHO MAY HAVE SEEN THE VICTIM AND THE MEN”.(c’mon then, cut to the chase,give us the descriptions).
“POLICE OFFICERS WILL CONTINUE WITH THEIR ENQUIRIES OVER THE WEEKEND AND ARE WORKING WITH SITE ORGANISERS TO INVESTIGATE THE INCIDENT FULLY”.(yes, yes, but-)
“WE ARE REMINDING INDIVIDUALS TO BE VIGILANT AND ARE ADVISING GROUPS TO STICK TOGETHER AND LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER” (sensible advice I’m sure, but who are we looking out for?).
THE SPOKESMAN ADDED:”IT WAS VERY DARK AT THE TIME OF THE ATTACK, BUT ,(yes, yes, go on) THE VICTIM BELIEVES ONE OF THE MEN HAD SHORT, DARK, CURLY HAIR” (and, and ?…….)
THE FORCE HAVE APPEALED FOR ANYONE WHO MAY HAVE WITNESSED THE INCIDENT OR SEEN…………… (at last) ……….A YOUNG….
(go on, go ON)………….WOMAN (gasp) WEARING JEANS, A YELLOW AND CREAM TOP AND A BLACK CARDIGAN, WALKING WITH A SMALL GROUP OF MEN TO GET IN CONTACT.
Not much of a description, but I think I can fill in the blanks. What say you?.
