‘Head Start’: The $166 Billion Fed Ed Failure
“Head Start,” the flagship pre-kindergarten program introduced in 1965, has been a $166 billion failure. That’s the upshot of a sophisticated multi-year study just released by the Department of Health and Human Services.
An earlier iteration of the study, published in 2005, had found a few modest improvements in the language skills of participating students while they were enrolled in the program. But by the end of the first grade, even those few effects have disappeared, according to the follow-up released this month. Out of 44 separate cognitive tests given to former Head Start students at the end of the first grade, only two showed even marginally significant effects. The other 42 showed no statistically significant effect at all.
And this is hardly the first multi-billion boondoggle that was supposed to fix the racial disparities in education, its also hardly the first to fail miserably either.

America has spent enormous amounts of money since the Great Society trying to narrow ethnic IQ and achievement gaps . We have only a little to show for it.
And contrary to the endless birdlike chirping of the insane Left everything but the kitchen sink has been tried, and failed already. Whether it was dumping a billion dollars into the Kansas City school system which not only didn’t show improvement, but was worse at the end of the experiment to the straight up fraud of the Milwaukee Project which was so egregious the lead researcher ended up in prison.
The lesson that should be learned from this utterly expected and anticipated failure is that we don’t know how to improve the racial IQ gap, we just don’t and moral pronouncements aside we’re just wasting our time when we try, at this point anyway.
But that’s not what will happen, some new snake oil salesman will come along and convince the hoi Polloi that it can be overcome if only we waste another couple of hundred billion.

The school’s here in OKC have just as many little dumb asses and you wonder why, we have spent all this money and nothing to show for it.Then you see and talk to there parent, fat white trash baby momma’s, back water hick’s and lazy blacks and Mexican’s who can’t speak the languge. The last thing on there mind is education ,they are more worried where the next gub ment hand is coming from.
