Why, here’s an excellent example…
Hair care tycoon Farouk Shami said Monday that he’ll press forward with his candidacy for governor, even though much of the Democratic establishment is lining up behind Houston Mayor Bill White.
“People are tired of career politicians,” Shami said as he opened his first North Texas office, at 1451 Empire Central Drive in Dallas. “They want an honest man. I’m that man.”
Dozens of people turned out to see Shami. The candidate, a Houston businessman born in the Middle East, said he was inspired by the successful presidential campaign of Barack Obama, saying he and the president had similar obstacles.
“Our president had a stranger name than Farouk Shami – Barack Hussein Obama,” he said. “That proves that the country is open for a change. I’m the person that’s going to institute this change in the state of Texas. … We have a black president. We need a brown governor.”
One of the things that really annoyed me when we covered illegal immigration was the hip deep stupidity of our opponents, that special feeling is starting to make a comeback.
But remember: if I suggested that Texas needed a white governor that would be proof positive of my incorrigible evil and racism, whereas when this swarthy fellow says the exact same damn thing it is merely proof that he is…delicious?
